ACWA Power CEO hosts UN Secretary General and dignitaries at Riverside Project in Tashkent

ACWA Power was honored to host His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, along with His Excellency Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan and His Excellency Yousef Saleh Algahrah Al-Otaibi, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, at the Tashkent Riverside project site. The distinguished guests toured the 200 MW photovoltaic installation and the 500 MWh battery energy storage (BESS) facility at Tashkent Riverside.

During the visit, delegates gained insight into the innovative technologies and sustainable energy solutions implemented at the Tashkent Riverside facility. This greenfield project, which includes both solar and BESS components, aims to stabilize Uzbekistan’s power grid, which has been predominantly based on conventional energy sources. The project’s proponents emphasize that it will be the largest BESS in Central Asia.
