George’s owner Asda makes major e-commerce choice

Asda-owned fashion brand George’s has boosted its digital ambitions with the appointment of David Devany as vice president of e-commerce.

The supermarket giant, whose George brand is currently enjoying success both online and in-store, is eyeing Devany to join Asda’s digital team to help it drive its long-term growth strategy.

Devany, who has been Group Chief Customer, Marketing, and Digital Officer at Iceland Foods since 2020, brings more than 25 years of experience in e-commerce, digital and marketing to Asda. His start date has not yet been announced.

He will focus on growing Asda’s presence in the competitive online market across all categories.

“David’s wealth of experience and proven track record in retail across the UK, Europe and the US will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our senior leadership team,” said Asda co-owner Mohsin Issa. “David’s remit will span our entire e-commerce business and his appointment will play an important role.”
