Kenya’s pioneering AI-powered, influencer-powered social commerce platform, Twiva Ltd, is celebrating a milestone after winning two prestigious awards at the Kenya E-commerce Awards held at the Movenpick Hotel.
Twiva is proud to announce its wins in the e-commerce categories, winning 1st Place, Top Rising Star Award, E-commerce Award, and 2nd Place in the Best Social Commerce Platform category.

This recognition is a game-changer as it marks the first official entry of the growing social commerce category into the prestigious E-commerce Awards, which have been running for five years.

The Kenya E-commerce Awards aim to celebrate excellence in shopping, retail and customer success. The awards recognise companies that excel in creating exceptional shopping experiences.

“It’s an honor to know that Twiva continues to earn the vote of confidence from the people of Kenya, as we also appreciate the overwhelming support we receive from our merchants (SMEs), influencers/vendors, and our stakeholders. Our driving force continues to be the desire to provide our users with a great shopping experience on the platform,” says Grace Gikonyo, Head of Marketing & Public Relations.
Peter N. Kironji, CEO and Co-Founder of Twiva, added: “I value the efforts of entrepreneurs who grow their businesses, and these awards are a great way to honor that commitment. We are committed to revolutionizing the social commerce landscape in Kenya and beyond. By leveraging AI and the power of social media influencers, we are creating a new way for brands to connect with consumers and drive real conversions in their sales efforts.”
Twivy’s recognition comes amid significant growth in Kenya’s social commerce sector. At the beginning of 2024, Kenya had 22.71 million internet users, when internet penetration was 40.8 percent. As of January 2024, Kenya had 13.05 million social media users, which was 23.5 percent of the total population.

The latest statistics highlight that 49% of Kenyans have made purchases via social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter, underlining the important role social commerce plays in the country’s retail landscape. With the market projected to grow by 23.5% annually, Twivy’s innovative approach to leveraging AI and influencers positions it as a key player in this growing industry.

By connecting brands with influencers who authentically promote products, Twiva has created a seamless and engaging shopping experience. This success illustrates the powerful synergy between technology and human influence in driving business growth and consumer engagement.

As the social commerce landscape in Kenya evolves, with micro and small businesses increasingly using social media as virtual storefronts, Twiva remains at the forefront of this transformation. With a network of over 11,000 influencers, Twiva enables businesses to leverage the enormous potential of social commerce.

Twiva’s achievements at the Kenya E-commerce Awards solidify its position as a leader in the social commerce sector in Kenya. The platform continues to set new standards for shopping experiences, fostering meaningful connections between brands and consumers. As social commerce continues to grow, Twiva is poised to drive further innovation and support the digital transformation of retail in Kenya.
