Law Enforcement Department Launches New App to Report Illegal Fireworks

The Department of Law Enforcement today announced a new app that allows citizens to report incidents of illegal fireworks use. There are also two other ways for the Illegal Fireworks Task Force to report incidents of illegal fireworks use.

All reports will remain anonymous unless the reporter wishes to provide their identity and contact information, DLE said in a press release.

The new DLE Safer Watch app can be downloaded to any smartphone by visiting GetSaferWatch.com.

Through the app, tip-offers can share information, videos and photos of illegal fireworks and people using them.

You can also file a report by calling the DLE anonymous hotline at 808-517-2182.

Callers should leave a detailed message including the address or location, the types of illegal fireworks being used, and a description and names of the people using the fireworks.

The third way is to go to the DLE website at law.hawaii.gov and fill out the information fields, providing as much information as possible.

DLE staff collect data from the public, analyze information and follow up on all leads.
