Lhyfe and Fives offer a complete solution for decarbonizing industrial combustion processes using green hydrogen

The offering accelerates the energy transition by facilitating the use of hydrogen in the process industry without having to modify all equipment. Lhyfe will produce and supply green hydrogen, while Fives will provide optimized and safe solutions for its use in industrial combustion processes.

In recent years, hydrogen combustion, which does not produce CO2 emissions, has become one of the most promising solutions for reducing the carbon footprint of industrial processes.

For example, an aluminium secondary smelter that produces 120 tonnes per day today using natural gas could reduce its annual CO2 emissions by more than 4,000 tonnes tomorrow by using hydrogen.

As recognized experts in their fields, Lhyfe and Fives will focus primarily on the metal, glass and cement industries, as well as selected industrial heating processes and applications in Europe and North America.

Lhyfe is one of the world’s pioneers in green and renewable hydrogen production. It produces green and renewable hydrogen by electrolyzing water in production units powered by renewable energy. The company’s first site has been operational since the second half of 2021, with two more to be inaugurated in 2023. Several other sites are being built or expanded across Europe.

Fives is an international leader in industrial engineering with over 100 years of experience in industrial combustion. The Group has been a technology leader in hydrogen for over 50 years, developing cutting-edge technologies throughout the value chain. Under the ITAS, North American and Pillard® brands, Fives offers the broadest range of proven hydrogen burners available on the market to serve all industries.

“We are at a turning point in the industrial sector and in particular in industrial combustion,” said Matthieu Guesné, Founder and CEO of Lhyfe. “After several years of development, hydrogen solutions are now mature and commercially available throughout the region. We are proud and delighted to sign this agreement with a company like Fives, which is helping to accelerate the energy transition in the glass, cement and metal industries with comprehensive solutions for their processes.”
