Rail Europe welcomes Robert From as Chief Development Officer

Rail Europe, the leading brand for train bookings in Europe, is delighted to announce that Robert From has been appointed Chief Development Officer. In this leadership role, Robert will oversee the B2C business, including customer acquisition, growth, retention, ancillary services and monetisation. His arrival comes at a key time as Rail Europe is set to launch a new booking experience for its B2C customers on both its website and app by early 2025.

Robert has over 15 years of experience scaling technology and media businesses internationally. Previously, as Commercial COO at MaaS Global, he was responsible for managing the largest global B2C MaaS platform called WHIM, also known as the “Netflix of mobility.” In this role, he led the company to significant revenue, customer and usage growth – increasing the total number of customers served to 650k and facilitating 25 million journeys.

Before joining MaaS Global, Robert held a number of leadership roles at Google in Northern Europe and Southeast Asia. In his most recent role, he played a key role in expanding YouTube monetization in Finland and the Nordics. During his time at Google, he successfully helped companies across technology, e-commerce, FMCG and consumer services increase sales, build brands and better serve customers.

“We are excited to welcome Robert to our team in this newly created leadership position. Robert’s strategic vision and proven track record in customer acquisition and retention will be instrumental in developing our position as the leading B2C train booking platform. As we prepare to unveil our completely new booking experience, Robert and his team will play a key role in driving our B2C growth, ensuring a data-centric approach and delivering excellent customer experiences,” said Björn Bender, CEO of Rail Europe.

Speaking about his new role, Robert From says: “I am very excited to be joining Rail Europe at a pivotal time for both the company and the rail sector as a whole. Rising consumer demand, expanding rail markets across Europe, and the need to increase the share of more sustainable modes of transport present a huge opportunity. I look forward to working with the talented teams across the company to serve our customers on their journeys.”

Rail Europe is confident that Robert From’s appointment will help the company achieve even greater success by driving innovation and improving the travel experience for its customers.
