How to Create an Apple ID If You Don’t Have an Apple Device

On a Windows computer, you have a few options to go through the process of creating a new Apple ID. You can launch the Microsoft Store and install the Apple TV or Apple Music apps and complete the registration through your platform of choice. However, for simplicity, you can use the method that works on non-Apple computers and mobile devices. Follow these instructions on your preferred gadget:

  1. Launch your favorite web browser.
  2. Open a new tab and go to appleid.apple.com.
  3. In the top right corner of the page, click Create Your Apple ID. On a mobile browser, you first need to tap the drop-down arrow in the top right corner of the page.
  4. Enter your name, country and date of birth.
  5. Enter your email address. Note that this will be your new Apple ID.
  6. Create a strong password.
  7. Enter your phone number. Make sure it’s a number you’ll always have access to, as it will be used for identity verification purposes.
  8. Select the check boxes for the types of email notifications you would like to receive.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to verify your email address and phone number.

Once your email address has been successfully authenticated, you should be able to use your new Apple ID to sign in to Apple services that are compatible with your non-Apple device. If you are asked to sign in to iTunes after creating your Apple ID over the web, you may need to access your chosen Apple service (Apple TV+ or Apple Music) by launching the appropriate app on your compatible non-Apple device. You can also visit tv.apple.com or music.apple.com. In either case, you should be able to sign in with your new Apple ID.
