President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of members of the board of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP).

CREDICORP is an important institution that aims to improve access to and management of consumer credit in Nigeria.

This information was given in a statement by the president’s spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.

The new Board of Directors, comprised of independent, executive and non-executive board members, is tasked with guiding CREDICORP toward achieving its mission of supporting the growth and stability of consumer lending.

Engr Uzoma Nwagba has been appointed as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer while Otunba Aderemi Abdul will serve as Chairman of the Board (Independent Non-Executive Director).

Other key appointments, as per the statement, include Ms Aisha Abdullahi as Executive Director (Credit, Risk & Portfolio)/CRO and Ms Olanike Kolawole as Executive Director (Operations)/COO.

The following non-executive directors were appointed to the board: Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang (nominated by MOFI), Dr. Peter Iwegbu (nominated by NIMC), Mr. Mohammed Nasiru Abbas (nominated by FMITI), Marvin Nadah (nominated by FCCPC) and a representative of the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF).

President Tinubu expressed the expectation that the new board members would leverage their wealth of experience, competence and commitment to fulfill CREDICORP’s mission of accelerating access to consumer credit for millions of Nigerians.
