Kogi State Governor Distributes Safety Gadgets to Hunters – Voice of Nigeria

By Ishaq Dan-Imam, Lokoja

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has distributed security gadgets to one thousand and fifty hunters to help them fight crime in the state.
At the event, Governor Ododo expressed his administration’s commitment to the fight against crime and reiterated his determination to deal decisively with any person intending to disturb the peace of Kogi State.

The governor said Kogi State has ceased to be a breeding ground for criminals, stressing that everyone must be ready to act to eliminate criminals who he said are “Common enemies of the state.”

Governor Ododo has enjoined the hunters to maintain professionalism and collaborate with other security agencies to rid the state of crime.

“My government has adopted a kinetic and non-kinetic approach to ensure the safety of our citizens.
Kogites, we need to protect ourselves. If we don’t, no one will. Kogi State is not a free trade zone for criminals.

“When you see them, deal with them firmly. Criminals must be wiped out from our land. When you come with a criminal mind, we are always ready to throw you out. Once again, when you see criminals, deal with them,” he warned.
Earlier in his remarks, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bertrand Onuoha, disclosed that the items distributed were to assist traditional security agencies in the state in the fight against insecurity.
Commending the Kogi State Governor for his foresight in looking after human lives and properties, the Commissioner said:
“We all know the topography of Kogi State which creates security challenges. All these gestures we see are in line with the strategic vision of the Nigerian Inspector General of Police on community policing.
“If all the security agencies worked without synergy of efforts, much of this success would not have been achieved. I use this opportunity to call for the integration of all the security agencies in the state. In this regard, I have directed the commanders of the police areas to always use the rangers and hunters. When we work in harmony, our services will be more efficient and interesting.

Onuoha advised members of the hunters association and vigilantes to always work with other security agencies to effectively flush out criminals from Kogi State.

He urged them to always do all in their power to protect law-abiding citizens of Kogi State.
