Exeter accounting practice taken over by domestic firm

An accountancy firm has expanded its business with the acquisition of a long-established Exeter-based firm.

RT Marke & Co, which was expanded in 1985, acquired Kirk Hills Chartered Accountants.

The transaction will expand the business’s reach and increase its presence in Devon and Cornwall.

David Kirk, Adrian Hills, Sarah Chamberlain, Kirk Hills partners and the Exeter team have joined RT Marke & Co.

They will continue to provide their existing services to their current customers.

The 45-strong team will be able to count on greater career development opportunities in offices in Bideford and Exeter.

David Kirk said: “The decision to join forces with RT Marke & Co. brings significant benefits to our clients and team and will allow us to continue our proactive and forward-thinking approach to business advisory services.

“Our customers will continue to receive the highest standard of personal service, while also benefiting from the additional services and skills of a larger local company.”

Neil Marke, Managing Director of RT Marke & Co., added: “We see a growing need for support for SMEs in our region, so this acquisition provides us with the highest level of specialist services to our growing portfolio. Kirk Hills is a long-established accountancy practice in Exeter with an exceptional reputation.

“Their commitment to nurturing their team and supporting their clients was an equal match for our own. Our shared desire to help SMEs grow their businesses and our complementary client mix means we are in a strong position to guide and advise the South West business community.”

RT Marke & Co. is part of the Sumer Group, which aims to become the leading national SME business in the UK.

With the company’s support, the business plans to expand into other towns across Devon and Cornwall, helping businesses grow and achieve their goals.

Sumer centres include: Carpenter Box, Cowgills, EQ Chartered Accountants, Jerroms, Monahans, RMT Accountants & Business Advisors, RT Marke & Co Ltd, Scrutton Bland, Simmons Gainsford Group and Sumer Northern Ireland.
