Perth-based broker Michael Ashforth has joined the board of gold miner Northern Star Resources, leaving his role at investment bank Goldman Sachs. The miner said he would focus on other board positions at Sandfire Resources and Sheffield Resources. Mr Ashforth has been a part-time special adviser to Goldman Sachs since 2022, but will no longer consult with the company following his appointment to the role at the miner. With around 30 years of experience, the broker was previously executive chairman of AMB Holdings and has held senior positions at Macquire Capital, Gresham Partners and law firm Freehills, among others.

Engineering and services company Orontide Group has hired Tony McClure as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. McClure brings more than three decades of experience in a variety of industries to the Henderson-based company, including mining, oil and gas, construction, maintenance, manufacturing and services. Mr. McClure’s previous roles include his most recent role as Western Regional Manager for construction company Guidera O’Connor, and a four-year stint as General Manager of Mineral Resources from 2013 to 2017. Mr. McClure takes over the top job at Orontide from Stewart Maddison, who joined the non-executive board after a nine-year stint as CEO.

Dean Horton has been appointed as Greatland Gold’s Chief Financial Officer, bringing more than 25 years of experience to the role. Mr Horton previously worked at Fortescue Metals for three years and National Australia Bank for nine years, developing his expertise in debt financing for resource and energy projects. Following Mr Horton’s appointment at Subiaco-based Greatland Gold, Acting Chief Financial Officer Monique Connolly has been appointed Chief Financial Officer. Ms Connolly joined the company in 2021 as Financial Controller and was then promoted to Acting Chief Financial Officer in January.

Fenix ​​Resources has appointed Shannon Coates as a non-executive director to the board of the ASX-listed iron ore producer. Ms Coates has more than 30 years of experience in corporate law and compliance and has been Managing Director of national services provider Source Governance since mid-2022. Ms Coates was a non-executive director of Bellevue Gold for four years and chairs the company’s nominations and remuneration committee.

Real estate agency Lease Equity has revealed two internal appointments, promoting James Hopkins to the role of leasing director and Jared Dimbleby to deputy leasing director. Mr Hopkins’ new role continues a series of promotions over his 11-year career at Lease Equity. He joined the firm in 2013 as a research analyst before rising to senior leasing director and later deputy leasing director. When he leaves the latter role to become leasing director, Mr Dimbleby has been promoted to the role. He joined Lease Equity in 2019 as leasing director.

Alex Biddulph has been promoted to Partner in Lavan’s Banking and Finance team. Mr Biddulph specialises in commercial banking, finance and lending and joined Lavan in 2021. He previously worked for six months at Lawyers on Demand as a solicitor following a series of contract assignments in London. Mr Biddulph also previously worked at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers and Norton Rose Fulbright.
