Dyson Airstrait straightener, which straightens hair with air, launched in India

Dyson has launched the Dyson Airstrait straightener in India. The company’s latest addition to its haircare line-up offers unique straightening using air instead of traditional hot plates, which aims to minimise hair damage. According to Dyson, the Airstrait straightener is specially tailored to the different Indian hair types, allowing users to achieve a naturally straight look while maintaining the strength and health of their hair. Unlike traditional straighteners from brands like Philips that use hot plates to straighten hair, the Airstrait uses high-pressure air blades to dry and straighten hair at the same time.

The device features two arms that create precisely positioned air blades that direct a flow of air down and into the hair to dry and straighten it simultaneously.

Dyson Airstrait Colors

The Dyson Airstrait straightener is available in two colors: Prussian Blue/Rich Copper and Bright Nickel/Rich Copper. Potential buyers can purchase the device at Dyson demo stores, on the official Dyson website and via the MyDyson app.

Dyson Airstrait Specs and Features

The device has two modes: in drying mode, the Dyson Airstrait straightener offers temperature settings below 100°C (212°F) and 130°C (266°F), with an additional ‘boost’ mode at 130°C. Users can adjust the airflow speed between low and high settings, and can also use features such as cool shot and root drying mode.

Equipped with glass bead thermistors, the device measures the temperature of the airflow up to 16 times a second to maintain the optimum range and prevent heat damage, thus preserving the natural shine of the hair. This information is processed to adjust the heating element, ensuring the airflow remains within the required temperature limits. “It took the company six years to build the product from concept to end-consumer,” said Steve Williamson, Dyson’s cosmetics category manager.

The hair straightener also uses precise airflow along the arms to generate high-speed, downward-directed air blades that converge into a focused stream. This directed airflow helps to even out hair strands, resulting in a smooth, natural-looking finish.
