NEW DELHI: Shares of a sugar company closed Thursday’s session on a positive note.

Ponni Sugars(Erode)Ltd.(up 2.12%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(up 2.09%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 1.85%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(up 1.63%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 1.29%), EID Parry(India)Ltd.(up 1.05%), Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(up 0.91%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 0.50%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(up 0.46%) and Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 0.19%) were among the top gainers.

Top losers on the day included Sakthi Sugars Ltd. (down 3.04%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd. (down 2.84%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd. (down 2.14%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd. (down 1.93%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd. (down 1.76%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd. (down 1.59%), KM Sugar Mills Ltd. (down 0.93%), Rana Sugars Ltd. (down 0.87%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd. (down 0.70%) and Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd. (down 0.51%).

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the day up 15.66 points at 24,302.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex ended the day up 62.87 points at 80,049.67.

HCL Technologies Ltd. (up 2.8%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (up 2.62%), Tata Motors Ltd. (up 2.32%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (up 1.57%), Infosys Ltd. (up 1.43%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (up 1.41%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. (up 1.31%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (up 1.28%), Coal India Ltd. (up 0.95%) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (up 0.87%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack. On the other hand, HDFC Bank Ltd. (down 2.35%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (down 2.1%), Wipro Ltd. (down 1.54%), Adani Enterprises Ltd. (down 1.47%), Tech Mahindra Ltd. (down 1.4%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (down 1.18%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (down 1.14%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (down 0.98%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (down 0.95%) and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (down 0.87%) ended in the red.
