Autonomous mobile robots Geekplus and Körber increase efficiency of e-commerce warehouse operations at Hawesko Group — Retail Technology Innovation Hub

All warehouse operational processes are focused on the Körber digital logistics platform.

The WMS serves as the operational node, while the split Unified Control System (UCS) optimizes control of the entire portfolio of automated technologies and creates extended communication interfaces for robotics applications.

As a result, order picking efficiency in the expanded area has more than doubled.

“Given the growth of online retail, the importance of efficient processes supporting e-commerce order fulfillment has increased significantly. Efficient and effective solutions are needed to meet increasing customer demands and seasonal fluctuations,” says Michael Brandl, Executive Vice President Software EMEA at Körber Business Area Supply Chain.

“The new solution has enabled Hawesko Group to achieve this goal thanks to the integrated combination of WMS, AMR and UCS technology.”

“Compared to the use of conventional automation solutions, the expansion in Tornesch proved to be the most cost-effective solution, creating not only additional storage space but also the necessary freedom for future expansion,” says Frederick Paulsen, Project Manager for Information Logistics at IWL.

“In the future, it will be possible to place up to 100 additional shelves in the existing space, which corresponds to around 40,000 additional items.”
