ABO Wind changes name to ABO Energy and adopts new legal structure

ABO Wind, now ABO Energy, has completed its transformation from a stock corporation (AG) to a limited partnership with shares (KGaA). This transformation, approved by 87% of the shareholders at the Extraordinary General Meeting in October 2023, aims to maintain the influence of its founders, Dr. GBB and Dr. JMC, as well as the company management, Jochen Ahn and Matthias Bockholt, on the company’s strategic decisions, in particular with regard to future capital increases. This legal change ensures continuity of management while allowing for greater flexibility in fundraising.

A new name for international expansion

The change to “ABO Energy” marks a new phase, better reflecting the company’s diversification beyond wind energy to include solar, storage and hydrogen. This decision aims to align the company’s name with its technology portfolio and its expansion into international markets, particularly Spain. The name change was necessary to accurately reflect the company’s scope of operations.

Impact on business and management

The transition to ABO Energy was formalized by an entry in the Commercial Register of the District Court in Wiesbaden. This restructuring does not affect the company’s business model or existing partnerships. With 23 gigawatts of project capacity in various technologies and a 20 gigawatt hydrogen pipeline, ABO Energy is well positioned to leverage its current and future achievements.

Market prospects and strategy

The strategic direction of ABO Energy remains unchanged, with a focus on increasing shareholder value and securing strong partnerships. The company aims to increase its attractiveness on the capital market while strengthening its leading position in the energy sector. Founders Dr. Jochen Ahn and Matthias Bockholt have reiterated their commitment to transparency and sustainable growth. This structural and nominal change reflects ABO Energy’s ambition to adapt to the requirements of the changing global energy market, while maintaining stable management and a strategy focused on growth and innovation.
