Tetra Tech Secures $73 Million USAID Contract to Improve Energy Access in West Africa

Tetra Tech, Inc., a leading provider of high-quality consulting and engineering services in the areas of water, environment, and sustainable infrastructure, today announced that it has been awarded a $73 million contract from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to increase access to affordable and reliable electricity in 18 West African countries.

Under the Power Africa Empower West Africa initiative, Tetra Tech’s energy experts will work with governments, development finance institutions and the private sector to accelerate the transition to more sustainable, inclusive and resilient energy sectors. The project includes designing and implementing national electrification programmes, modernising transmission and distribution facilities, deploying clean energy technologies and catalysing energy investments. This new agreement extends Tetra Tech’s decade-long commitment to Power Africa and will introduce digital tools such as smart energy meters, AI-based data analytics, e-mobility solutions such as electric vehicles and boats, and capacity-building programmes to prepare local workers for careers in renewable energy.
