Civil Servants (Rules of Conduct) Rules are changing: Cabinet Secretary

DHAKA, July 5, 2024 (BSS) – Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain has said that the Conduct of Government Servants Rules, 1979 will be amended.

He said this while responding to journalists after the end of the secretaries’ meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday.

Mahbub Hossain said the changes were made to bring the rules in line with the requirements of the time and expressed hope that the rule changes would be finalised soon.

He added that the Government was also considering adapting the existing Integrity Strategy to meet current needs.

Responding to a question, Mahbub said the existing Integrity Strategy was developed about 12 years ago.

He added that a discussion on this topic took place at the meeting.

The Cabinet Secretary said that issues such as progress in implementing decisions taken at the previous meeting, budget and election manifesto were discussed during the meeting.

Besides, it was suggested to sincerely follow the directives of the Prime Minister issued at various times during office work, he added.
The Cabinet Secretary said it was important to maintain transparency in budget implementation and this was mentioned in the meeting.

He added that instructions have been issued on how to ensure proper delivery of government services in subordinate offices, how to monitor them properly and how to take important action if people have any complaints against any service.
