Four Upcoming New iPads Potentially Revealed by Device IDs

Device IDs found in the backend code could potentially identify four upcoming new iPads, ranging from the 11th-generation iPad with an A16 processor to the 13-inch iPad Pro with an M5 processor.

It should be noted that the identity and specifications of the devices are really just educated speculations, and there is one strange thing about all this…

Mac’s World reports the discovery of Nicolás Álvarez.

According to a reference in Apple’s backend code discovered by Nicolás Álvarezon X (via @aaronp613), the company is working on several new iPads that will likely launch this fall.

Identifiers and probable models are:

  • iPad15.7 – A16 11th Generation iPad Wi-Fi
  • iPad15,8 – A16 11th Generation iPad Mobile
  • iPad16.1 – A17 iPad mini 7th generation Wi-Fi
  • iPad16.2 – A17 iPad mini 7th generation cellular
  • iPad17.1 – M5 11-inch Pro Wi-Fi
  • iPad17.2 – M5 11 inch Pro cellular
  • iPad17.3 – M5 13-inch Pro Wi-Fi
  • iPad17.4 – M5 13 inch Pro cellular

The alleged chips come from IDs, but it would be odd for the A16 chip to be used in any upcoming Apple device, as it would mean it wouldn’t be able to run Apple Intelligence.

While the company wants to maintain a clear line between the entry-level and Pro models, I would expect AI features to be supported across all new devices.

Both the 11th-generation iPad and the improved iPad mini are expected to launch before the end of the year.
