Which Pixel 9 device are you most interested in? (Survey)

We’re getting four — yes, four — devices at the earlier-than-usual Made by Google event on August 13. The Pixel 9 will have more versions than ever before, but which one are you most interested in?

In previous years, we had a simple decision of a small Pixel and a larger “Pro” Pixel. About 10 months after the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, we get the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro “XL,” and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Two smartwatches will also be included for good measure.

The naming convention seems silly, but it could help organize all the hardware under one banner. Is it wise? That’s up to you – a potential buyer or a die-hard Pixel fan – to decide.

There are reportedly a number of alleged hardware upgrades coming. These include an Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, an updated Tensor G4 processor, and a new, boxier design. The latter will be one of the most noticeable changes to the Pixel series since its inception.

The move to, or adoption of, a more iPhone-like design could be a huge success, and could even mean that fewer people are interested in the Pixel 9 than in the fun, friendly aesthetic that Google has cultivated across the Pixel series — and its associated versions of Android — over the past 4-5 years.

Having options is a good thing, and we’re glad to see Google adding a few more options to its usual end-of-year release cycle. Just a few months ago, we talked about the Pixel 8a. Could the approach of launching four devices mean the A series is in jeopardy? That’s a question for another day.
