Badr Abbas is the new head of Emirates SkyCargo

Emirates Group Chairman and CEO, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, today announced 12 senior appointments, including Badr Abbas as the new Senior Vice President, Divisional Operations, Emirates SkyCargo, replacing Nabil Sultan.

Emirates has been without a head of cargo since March this year, when Nabil Sultan, then senior vice president of the division, was promoted to executive vice president of passenger sales and country management at Emirates.

Although Abbas’ appointment will be effective from July 8, 2024, he currently serves as senior vice president, commercial operations (Africa) at Emirates, a position he has held for nearly five years.

Abbas has spent 24 years of his career with Emirates, starting in 2000 as a Commercial Management Trainee and serving as Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (Far East) until 2019 and Vice President, Commercial Operations (UAE & Oman) until 2015.

He also served as country director for Tunisia, Libya, Yemen and Cyprus, and had experience working in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.

Emirates said in an announcement about the 12 appointments: “The latest list of promotions and leadership positions includes seven UAE nationals, many of whom have built their careers within Emirates Group in various roles and continue to play a key role in the organisation’s success.

Sheikh Ahmed said: “These appointments reflect the expanded scale, breadth and ambition of our business. I am delighted that we have been able to fill these positions with internal talent, including UAE nationals. The Emirates Group will continue to invest in being the employer of choice for the best talent in the industry, delivering world-leading products and services, and reflecting Dubai’s vision to be number one in everything we do.”
