AXA Mansard CEO Kunle Ahmed becomes 26th NIA chairman

AXA Mansard Insurance Chairman, Mr. Kunle Ahmed, has been elected as the 26th Chairman of the Insurers Association of Nigeria (NIA).

During the swearing-in ceremony at the group’s 26th annual general meeting (AGM) last week, the insurance expert expressed gratitude to the association’s former presidents for laying a solid foundation and steering the association on a transformational path.

He also expressed appreciation to his colleagues on the Governing Board, the presidents of member companies, the CEO, management team and staff of NIA.

Mr. Ahmed thanked the organization for the trust reposed in him, calling for the collective support of all stakeholders in the insurance industry to help him succeed. He emphasized the importance of the support and cooperation of the members to enable him to take the association to new heights.

“While I pledge my unwavering commitment to the ideals of our esteemed association so that we can continue to be a strong pillar of support for our members,

“I also ask for your support and cooperation so that we can develop our association, especially at this key moment on our country’s path to economic stability and prosperity,” said the head of AXA Mansard in his speech on the occasion of receiving the award.

During the meeting, Mr Ahmed announced the appointment of Ms Bola Odukale as the new Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the NIA, a position she will assume on 2nd July 2024, and commended the outstanding services of the outgoing holder of the position, Ms Yetunde Ilori.

According to him, her immense contribution and visionary leadership have played a key role in transforming NIA into one of the most important players in the Nigerian financial services sector.

“It is no longer a secret that she will soon take over as the president of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CIIN). We wish our dear Ms. Ilori every success in her new role,” he said.

Congratulating Mr. Ahmed, Chief Customer Officer (CCO) at AXA Mansard, Ms. Rashidat Adebisi said his selection is further proof not only of his contagious passion, dedication and hard work, but also of his right call to duty, aimed at consolidating the strong foundations laid by his predecessors at NIA.

Ms Adebisi, who expressed her enthusiasm about Mr Ahmed’s new role, said: “We at AXA are very proud of this achievement by Kunle.

“We also understand the enormity of his choice at such a moment in the annals of our industry. That is why, as he takes on this role, we assure him, the Board of Governors and the NIA leadership of our full support.”

She reiterated that AXA remains committed to supporting its employees to contribute to meeting the growing need to harness the potential of the insurance sector in Nigeria, noting that AXA considers talent development as an important part of strengthening the industry and will continue to encourage its employees to leverage their expertise and experience in furthering the development agenda of all benevolent stakeholders in the industry.
