Octopus Energy Launches Heat Pump Deployment with New Installer Partnership Program

The scheme, officially known as the Octopus Trusted Partners scheme, has the added bonus of supporting local businesses. It was launched at InstallerSHOW 2024 in Birmingham on 27t June.

Since entering the market in 2021, Octopus has rapidly expanded its heat pump business and is now the UK’s leading heat pump installer, following the successful launch of its own air source heat pump, the ‘Cosy 6’, last year.

However, demand for heat pumps has increased 20-fold in the past year. The new partner programme will direct customers to trusted local installers who will handle clean tech installations that Octopus will deliver itself, giving customers faster access to cost-saving heating products while also creating new business opportunities for local installers.

This program will build a network of trusted and verified installers authorized to install Octopus products, bringing cost-saving technologies to people’s homes faster.

“As an entrepreneur, I have the utmost admiration for anyone who gets up every day to run their own business,” said Greg Jackson, founder of Octopus Energy. “As the UK’s largest heat pump installer, we are committed to providing clean heating to as many homes as possible – but we can’t do it alone.”

One of the partners is Heat Geek, which automatically gives all installers in the Heat Geek network access to the enhanced referral benefit and the ability to receive leads from Octopus. The partnership enables the largest community of independent installers to engage with the heat pump market and equips them with the training and tools needed to design and install heat pump systems to the highest quality standards.

Over 2,000 heating engineers have already benefited from Heat Geek’s award-winning training platform, with more joining every day.

Octopus has further reduced the UK’s cheapest smart heat pump tariff, ‘Cosy Octopus’, by adding a third off-peak window. All three windows are priced around 50 per cent below the price cap. This means the average heat pump customer could save £315 a year on heating costs compared to a customer with a gas boiler on SVT.

“Decarbonising home heating is absolutely critical if we are to combat climate change,” added Aadil Qureshi, CEO of Heat Geek. “Octopus has done an incredible job of educating homeowners about heat pumps and increasing their adoption. We share their belief that no customer who wants a heat pump will end up with a boiler. That’s why we’re delighted to add Heat Geek to their trusted network of installers.”

Octopus has already invested more than £50 million to accelerate the introduction of heat pumps. Its Cozy 6 is designed and manufactured in the UK. Octopus has also built a research, development and training centre for heat pump engineers in Slough – the first of its kind in the country.
