Weight Watchers misses fourth-quarter profit, beats revenue, shares fall

Weight Watchers International Inc. WTW just released its fourth-quarter fiscal 2015 results, reporting earnings per share of -$0.03 and revenue of $259.2 million.

WTW currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), but that could change following the company’s latest earnings report. Here are 5 key stats from the just-released report below.

Weight Watchers:

1. Earnings estimates missed. The company released -0.03 USD per sharewhich falls short of our Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.02. This figure excludes $0.15 from one-time items.

2. Beats revenue estimates. The company reported revenue of $259.2 millionwhich exceeds our forecast of $257 million.

3. Active subscribers were reported to be down 4.8% year over year in Q4, down from a 12.7% decline in Q3. This reflects strong recruitment growth related to Weight Watcher’s new “Beyond the Scale” program.

4. 2016 earnings are projected to be between 70 cents and $1 per share, in line with analysts’ forecasts for full-year earnings of 81 cents per share.

5. WTW shares fell $2.94, or 18.91%, to $12.61 as of 5:06 p.m. ET in after-hours trading, shortly after its earnings report.
