The rules of conduct for public officials will be changed

Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain said the Conduct of Government Servants Rules, 1979, would be amended.

According to BSS, he said this on Thursday, responding to journalists after the end of the secretaries’ meeting at the Secretariat.

Mahbub Hossain said the changes were made to bring the rules in line with the requirements of the time and expressed hope that the rule changes would be finalised soon.

He added that the Government is also considering considering the current Integrity Strategy as being fit for purpose.

Responding to a question, Mahbub said the existing Integrity Strategy was developed about 12 years ago.

He added that a discussion on this topic took place at the meeting.

The Cabinet Secretary said that issues such as progress in implementing decisions taken at the previous meeting, budget and election manifesto were discussed during the meeting.

Besides, it was suggested to sincerely follow the directives of the Prime Minister issued at various times during office work, he added.

The Cabinet Secretary said that the meeting raised the issue of maintaining transparency in budget implementation.

He added that instructions have been issued to ensure proper delivery of government services in subordinate offices, proper monitoring of them and taking important action in case people have any complaints against any service.
