We have adopted a policy of protecting agriculture through tax policy: FinMin Pun

KATHMANDU, July 5: Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun said the government has adopted a policy to protect agriculture through tax policy.

He said this during a speech held in Kathmandu on Friday.

Finance Minister Pun said that next year’s budget has adopted a policy to protect agricultural products through taxes and other policies. He expressed confidence that the policies adopted by the government will contribute to the modernization and commercialization of agriculture.

Mentioning that the government has declared 2081-2091 as the Decade of Agriculture, he promised that even if the political leadership and ministers change, the policy will not change. He said that the country will develop only when there is policy predictability and political stability.

“In the current fiscal year, agricultural products were subject to VAT, but the government removed it from the budget for the next fiscal year to protect agriculture,” Pun said.
