Telangana govt to announce new energy policy soon: Deputy Chief Minister

Hyderabad: Telangana will soon announce a new energy policy focusing on large-scale use of clean energy. The state also has plans to set up a skill university near Hyderabad and multiple industrial clusters along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), three ministers said on Friday.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka noted that around 35 per cent of pharmaceutical exports come from Telangana and added that the state will continue to adopt industry-friendly measures. The pharmaceutical industry is the backbone of healthcare and the pharma sector plays a key role in promoting patient safety and health, Bhatti said.

Stressing that health is available to all, he said the government will not allow any industry to face any problems. He assured the industry representatives that there is no shortage of electricity and water.

IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said the government was keen to set up around 10 pharma clusters to geographically decentralise the industry’s growth. This was one of the policies and initiatives announced by the Congress government within months of coming to power.

“Our aim is to provide world-class infrastructure, regulatory support and an enabling ecosystem for the pharmaceutical industry to thrive. We want to encourage manufacturing and support grassroots innovation,” said Sridhar Babu

The government is committed to developing all industrial verticals. It will continue the good policies of the previous governments and boost the growth of the industry with the new policy, Sridhar Babu said. The government planned to offer vocational training to around 50,000 graduates in the next five years, ensuring a steady supply of industry-ready candidates.

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government has in principle decided to set up Rajiv Gandhi Skill University in association with National Academy of Construction in Madhapur. RRR will give a boost to the economy. The government is building new hospitals in Warangal and Hyderabad, he said.
