Google Pixel production in India is fast approaching, “most” will be exported

As Google prepares to start producing Pixel devices in India, a new report reveals plans to export devices made in the country to the EU and the US. Production will begin soon.

In late 2023, Google officially announced plans to begin manufacturing some Pixel devices outside of India starting in 2024. Manufacturing has not yet begun, but it is still progressing toward the production start date. In May, it was reported that Google had selected locations where Pixel devices would be manufactured in India.

Now a new report from Money Control claims that Google is preparing to start trial production of Pixel devices in India. The report says that Google plans to produce lower-end Pixel devices (i.e. Pixel 9) with the help of Dixon Technologies, an electronics manufacturer based in India. Meanwhile, the Pro-class Pixel devices will be manufactured by Foxconn at the manufacturer’s factories in India.

Full production will reportedly begin in September, after Google launches the Pixel 9 series in August.

Apart from that, the report also claims that Google plans to export a “large portion of ‘most’ Pixel devices made in India to other regions,” specifically mentioning the European Union (EU) and the United States. This is because Pixel sales in India are relatively low, even though they are growing.
