Noida: Gazebo and guard room to be constructed in park sectors 51 and 50

Residents of Sectors 51 and 50 in Noida will soon have a gazebo — a freestanding structure open on all sides, providing shade and a place to relax — and a watchtower in their main public parks, Noida civic body officials said on Friday.

Residents of Meghdootam Park in Sector 51 said it is difficult to visit the park in inclement weather, while there is no guard room in Block D park in Sector 50 for the convenience of the guards posted there. (HT Photo)

The horticulture department recently inspected both the areas to find suitable sites for construction of the facilities and officials said work would begin soon.

Residents of Meghdootam Park in Sector 51 say it is difficult to visit the park in inclement weather as there are no shaded areas to rest.

Residents claim that there is no guard quarters in Block D in Sector 50 for the convenience of the guards posted there.

“During summers, there is no shade to escape the scorching sun and we are forced to limit our outings. Now, with a facility planned there, we hope to have a comfortable place to relax and have fun,” said Vijay Pal, a resident of Sector 51.

“The gazebos will also help in case of rain,” said another resident, Jagdish Singh.

Residents of Sector 50 point out that their largest public park does not have a guard station.

According to Sanjeev Kumar, senior vice-president of the District Development and Residents’ Welfare Association, Meghdootam Park is visited by residents of Sectors 50 and 51.

“Currently, there are six guards working in eight shifts there, and the gazebo is quite far from the entrance. This makes it difficult for the guards to take shelter from the sun and rain. We have long wanted to have a guard room near the gate to provide relief to the guards,” he said.

True, Sector 50 is home to around 20,000 people, while Sector 51 has around 5,000. There are a total of 17 public parks in both sectors.

Noida authorities said a survey of the parks has already been carried out and work will begin soon.

“In response to the demands of the residents, a land survey was conducted at both the places to identify suitable sites for a gazebo and a guard room. The work will be taken up within a week,” said Madanpal Chaudhary, deputy superintendent of horticulture department.
