China’s Jiangsu Public Sector Considers Buying Tesla Model Y

According to Chinese media reports, the Tesla Model Y has been listed as a public sector electric and plug-in hybrid model in Jiangsu Province. This is the first time Tesla vehicles have been considered for purchase by the Chinese government, according to Chinese publication The Paper, among others. The eastern Chinese province borders Shanghai, where Tesla is known to produce the Model Y for the Chinese market.

In the meantime, the portal CN EV Post Office reports that several state-owned enterprises in Shanghai have purchased Tesla Model Y units to “demonstrate equal treatment between domestic and foreign enterprises.” This claim of equal treatment exists in the Shanghai Lingang Pilot Free Trade Zone. Chengtou Xinggang and Lingang Investment Holding are cited as examples.
