Oriana Power receives order for 25 MWp Captive Solar Plant under GNM Policy in Delhi – Asia Pacific

Oriana Power Ltd. has secured an order for a 25 MWp solar power plant under the Delhi Group Net Metering (GNM) policy.

The project includes the construction of a 10 km underground transmission line. A 66 kV substation will be established to serve three GNM users, providing efficient power distribution and project management. The project also includes the expansion of the bay at the end of the substation.

The solar panels will be installed on elevated structures with cleaning walkways, allowing clean and uninterrupted agricultural operations underneath. This project not only optimizes land utilization but also combines solar energy generation and large-scale agriculture, making it the largest Agro Photovoltaic project in India.

Despite Delhi’s land constraints, Oriana Power has secured land for this initiative that combines renewable energy with agricultural production. The project will support real estate developers and address urban challenges.

Commenting on the announcement, the management team of Oriana Power Ltd. said, “This project, the largest agri-PV installation in India and the largest GNM project in Delhi, integrates solar energy generation with agriculture at scale through elevated structures, optimizing land utilization in a region where land is scarce. This innovative approach not only supports urban decarbonization efforts but also provides economic resilience to local farmers by creating dual revenue streams.”

“Our commitment includes a 25-year operations and maintenance plan, ensuring long-term sustainability. By helping one of the largest real estate developers on their decarbonization journey, we are setting a benchmark for sustainable urban development initiatives. This project highlights Oriana Power’s excellent execution capabilities and forward-thinking approach, demonstrating our ability to deliver complex projects that simultaneously address multiple industry challenges,” the team added.

This initiative highlights Oriana Power’s exemplary execution capabilities, constituting the largest GNM initiative in India and the first of its kind in Delhi. Regulatory approvals are underway to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the project, demonstrating Oriana Power’s commitment to forward-thinking sustainability solutions.

By combining energy from agriculture and renewable energy sources, the company sets new industry standards and confirms its commitment to improving the decarbonization of urban areas.
