Amazon.com said on Wednesday it has decided to stop offering its Astro for Business security robot for small and medium-sized businesses as it focuses on home robotics products.

Amazon first launched the dog-like robot for home use in 2021, and last November it launched Astro for Business for a variety of customers, including retail, manufacturing, healthcare and wellness.

“To accelerate our work and research to make Astro the best home robot, we have made the decision to end support for Astro for Business,” an Amazon spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

The home robot is designed to perform tasks such as monitoring your home, setting routines and reminders, and playing music and TV shows as it moves around your home.

Astro for Business, available exclusively in the US for $2,349.99, was launched to give customers the ability to stay on top of their business, even outside of business hours.

The robots will no longer operate from September 25, according to an email sent to customers seen by Reuters.

In an email, Amazon announced it has issued a $300 refund to affected customers, which can be used to fund a workaround.

Additionally, customers will be refunded any unused prepaid Astro Secure service fees.
