Vedanta Chairman meets Rajasthan Chief Minister to discuss state’s natural resources sector

Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal on Sunday met Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to discuss the state’s future plans and vision for the natural resources sector. Vedanta has invested over Rs 1.50 lakh crore in Rajasthan, while Hindustan Zinc Limited and Cairn Oil & Gas have the largest operations in the state.

“My discussions with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma were extremely fruitful, and we shared his government’s vision for the state’s development, focused on transparency, efficiency and value for global investors,” Agarwal said in a statement.

Agarwal highlighted the importance of the country’s prospects in metals, minerals and oil and gas for job creation and economic growth. He highlighted the government’s focus on mineral exploration, value addition, R&D and innovation under his leadership. Hindustan Zinc’s market capitalisation has increased over 400-fold since the divestment in 2002. Cairn Oil & Gas, a part of Vedanta, accounts for 25% of India’s domestic oil production, mainly from its operations in Barmer, Rajasthan.
