Denmark’s new gambling regulations for 2025 come into effect on January 1st!

Streamlined application process

From 1 September 2024, the Danish Gambling Authority will start accepting applications. Potential gaming providers can access detailed information materials and necessary forms via the official website of the Authority. These resources, including Game Provider License Application (Form 2-06) and their accompanying annexes provide clear instructions on how to navigate the licensing process.

Here you will find essential tips and application forms such as Supplier License Guidelines, Application Form 2-06, Appendix A (Personal Declaration, Form 2-02), Appendix B-2 (Technical Conditions, Form 2-08), and Appendix C (Representative Declaration, Form 2-04).

Before games can be delivered to operators, the Danish Gambling Authority orders an inspection of the gaming providers’ offers comprehensive testing and inspections. Accredited testing companies will evaluate games, platforms, business procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This rigorous certification process is integral to maintaining industry integrity and consumer trust.

Scheduled to be implemented on 1 January 2025, the revised certification programme represents a significant overhaul. Introducing the Game Registry

In addition to these regulatory reforms, the Danish Gambling Authority will introduce “Game Register” planned launch October 1, 2024 This dedicated portal will streamline the management of gaming certificates, facilitating seamless integration into the application process for potential suppliers. The gaming registry aims to increase efficiency and transparency in regulatory compliance.

The registry is expected to be operational on October 1, 2024.

During the transition, existing gaming certificates and certificates under the current program will remain valid until July 1, 2025. However, stakeholders are encouraged to adopt the updated certification program at the earliest opportunity to align with upcoming regulatory requirements. This proactive approach ensures continuity and compliance within the evolving regulatory framework.
