Noida: Public parks in Sector 50 and 51 to get gazebos, guard quarters soon

The Noida Authority on Friday announced that residents of Sector 51 and 50 will soon have a gazebo (a freestanding structure open on all sides, providing shade and a place to relax) and a guard house in their public parks. The horticulture department has surveyed the areas to find suitable locations for the facilities and construction will begin soon.

Residents of D Block Park in Sector 50 have complained that there is no room for guards to ensure their comfort and that during bad weather, it is difficult to access the park in Meghdootam Park in Sector 51 as there are no shaded areas to rest.

“During summers, there is no shade to escape the scorching sun and we are forced to limit our outings. Now, with the construction of a facility planned there, we hope to have a comfortable place to relax and have fun,” Vijay Pal, a resident of Sector 51, said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

“The gazebos will also help in case of rain,” said another resident, Jagdish Singh.

Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Vice President, District Development Residents Welfare Association, states that residents of both Sectors 50 and 51 use Meghdootam Park. Residents of Sector 50 complain that their largest public park is not equipped with a guard room.

“Currently, there are six guards working in eight shifts there, and the gazebo is quite far from the entrance. This makes it difficult for the guards to take shelter from the sun and rain. We have long wanted to have a guard room near the gate to provide relief to the guards,” he said.

Indeed, Sector 50 is home to around 20,000 people, while Sector 51 has a population of around 5,000. There are a total of 17 public parks in both the sectors.
