“Sometimes you see kids with energy drinks at 8:34 a.m. and then they fall asleep later in the day. There are no regulations.”

David Fagan, deputy headteacher at St Laurence O’Toole’s National School in Dublin city centre, is concerned that children are drinking energy drinks in the morning and then experiencing a “crash” later in the day.

“When we do morning supervision, sometimes we see kids with energy drinks at 8:34 a.m. and that’s not the best start to the day for kids,” Mr Fagan said.
