Hidden option to directly power Samsung devices, bypassing the battery : Tech : Tech Times

As reported by sources, users of select Android device models can now power their devices directly from a wall outlet by simply toggling the “Pause USB Power Delivery” option, bypassing the battery.

To enable this technique, users simply need to go into the Gaming Hub app, tap the More button, and select the “Game Booster” option. From there, they can enable the “Pause USB Power Delivery” option.

While this option may seem strange, it can extend the battery life of your device, thereby slowing down the wear and tear of your smartphone.

New flagship Galaxy phones equipped with artificial intelligence features are unveiled at a media event in San Jose, Silicon Valley, California, on January 17, 2024. Samsung on Wednesday released its latest Galaxy smartphones with new artificial intelligence features, as the South Korean giant seeks to regain its position as the world’s largest phone seller from Apple.

Bypass charging allows users to connect their smartphone to a power cord and charge the device without the battery. The battery essentially remains inactive, which is great for customers who keep their phones plugged in for extended periods of time and just tap away.

It also generates less heat than typical charging, causing less damage to the battery and other components. However, this option cannot be used all the time, because it is only used for games. Playing games on a smartphone can be more energy-intensive, because it generates more heat.

The device will only work with a 25W or greater Power Delivery charger, and the user will be required to charge the battery to at least 20 percent.

It is reportedly only available for Flip4 and newer, Galaxy S22 and newer, Fold4 and newer, A53, A73, M33, A23, and A33 models.

Game Booster Features

Game Booster isn’t just about battery life. It can monitor your Samsung mobile device’s game performance and automatically adjust settings to optimize playability.

Game Booster also monitors memory usage and temperature and makes automatic adjustments. Users can disable features like Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant and hide alerts to focus on the game.

Game Booster is reportedly easy to use. Swiping up or left during gameplay allows users to switch between portrait and landscape modes. Users then need to select the Game Booster icon, which appears as a small game controller in the lower right corner.

Then, a landing page will be displayed. Players can return to their current game by clicking “Start.” Gaming Hub users can further personalize their experience of this feature.

The user can access “Game Booster” by tapping “More” on the top right corner and selecting “Game Optimization”.

This will show you a range of pre-configured options tailored to different user preferences. It also highlights the downside of using this feature: excessive battery drain from Game Booster.

The “Standard” option provides a great mix of battery life and game performance. There is a warning, however, that the “Performance” option, which is intended to optimize the game experience, may use more battery power.

Samsung Battery Update

Samsung recently reinstated a popular battery setting on millions of Android devices, responding to customer concerns that the new One UI 6 phone lacks a “since last charged” feature on its battery usage page.

Previously, users could only view power usage information for the last 24 hours, making it difficult to accurately assess a device’s overall battery life.

In response to popular request, Samsung has brought back the “from last charge” feature in the battery menu, which is a huge bonus for Galaxy device owners.

The update was made available via the latest version of Device Care for Galaxy smartphones, much to the delight of Samsung fans. Noted Android watcher Tarun Vats revealed the news of the feature’s return.
