Google may soon make it easier for users to understand how Play Store apps work across devices

Google is reportedly testing a new app rating feature on the Play Store. According to a report by Android Authority, the latest change was spotted in the Google Play Store app version 41.7.16-31 by tipster AssembeDebug, which more easily shows the ratings of each app for different devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches.

Currently, the Play Store shows app ratings for different apps with dedicated icons to highlight different devices, including tablets and Chromebooks. Dedicated buttons, when tapped, show ratings for different Android devices. With this new fix, Google aims to simplify viewing app ratings for different devices.

What does this change mean for users?
According to the report, the new beta version displays ratings right next to device icons (phone, tablet, etc.) instead of forcing users to click on them first, making it quicker to see how the app performs on different devices.

This may be a minor update, but it could prove to be a pain for Android users. This change will allow users to see how the app works on different devices at a glance.

Google’s July Play system update brings the following changes

The July Google Play system update brought a wave of improvements for Android devices, wearables, TVs, and even car infotainment systems. This update focused on improving Play Services, Play Store apps, and general system updates.

One of the most important features for users is the improved Google Play Protect feature. Play Protect’s install-time protection feature now allows users to submit new apps for a thorough security analysis before they install them. This proactive method helps identify potential threats in apps before they can harm your device.

The Google Play Store itself has also been updated to version 41.7. While no details have been provided yet beyond the Play Protect improvements, the update will likely bring other improvements as well.

It is important to note that not all features listed in the update changelogs are immediately available to everyone. Some features may take several months to fully implement and become available to all users.
