Microsoft faces EU antitrust charges over Teams bundles

The antitrust complaint alleges that Microsoft has an unfair advantage in the way it configures and sells its Teams collaboration system, changes that could benefit the channel ecosystem and customers.

Here we go again. Microsoft is in trouble with antitrust law in the European Union, with regulators alleging that the software and cloud computing giant has an unfair distribution advantage—in other words, sales—in the way it bundles its Teams collaboration system with other Microsoft apps.

The complaint accuses Microsoft of using its leading market share in productivity apps to force customers to adopt Teams over other videoconferencing systems. Additionally, regulators say Microsoft is making it harder for other collaboration vendors, such as Zoom and Slack (owned by Salesforce), to integrate with Microsoft 365.
