The initiatives undertaken by Tamkeen, aimed at revolutionising the healthcare sector, will bring about a significant qualitative change in the healthcare system in the Kingdom, said MP Dr Maryam Al Dhaen.

Detailing the scope of the initiatives, the MP said they focus on developing and training national health staff. These programmes will support over 700 Bahraini doctors and nurses through five major initiatives.

Key elements include covering the costs of obtaining certification for Bahraini doctors, supporting the salaries of doctors working in the private sector during their training period, and facilitating the enrolment of Bahraini doctors in overseas scholarship programmes.

In addition, these initiatives aim to support Bahraini students in obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and help Bahraini nurses obtain specialist qualifications in various fields of nursing, the MP said.

“These initiatives will make Bahraini staff the best choice for employment in the private healthcare sector,” said Dr Al-Dhaen.

“Through rigorous training and professional development, we aim to raise the quality of healthcare in Bahrain, ensuring that our national healthcare workforce is well-equipped to meet the healthcare needs of the community.”

Dr Al-Dhaen appreciated the commitment of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in undertaking initiatives aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Bahraini doctors and raising their professional standards.

She also praised Tamkeen’s efforts in launching this comprehensive programme package, the largest of its kind, and expressed gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Isa bin Salman Educational Charitable Trust and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tamkeen.

“This initiative epitomizes the spirit of partnership within Team Bahrain, opening up promising horizons for young Bahrainis who are medical and nursing graduates,” noted Dr. AlDhaen. “It offers significant opportunities to create high-quality jobs in one of the Kingdom’s most prominent and promising sectors.”

Looking to the future, Dr Al-Dhaen expressed her aspirations for Bahrain to maintain its leadership position in the National Genomics Programme, which aims to create a comprehensive database to monitor and prevent genetic diseases.

She also stressed the importance of expanding the use of modern technologies and robotics in medicine, which has made Bahrain a pioneer in the Gulf in the use of medical robots in isolation wards.

“We anticipate expanding the application of AI in healthcare services,” Dr. Al-Dhaen continued. “By collaborating with global experts, emerging technologies such as AI, biotechnology, materials science and robotics can significantly advance the healthcare sector. Promoting innovation and research in medicine will improve patient care and healthcare services in Bahrain and around the world.”
