After visiting Northern Ireland on Monday morning, the Prime Minister will meet with mayors before heading to the NATO summit in Washington on Tuesday.

The series of announcements comes from a government keen to implement the “change” slogan it used during the elections.

There is not much new information in these words; instead, the government is taking steps it promised while in opposition.

The Chancellor’s First Important Speech

Chancellor Rachel Reeves intends to meet with business leaders to “deliver on the government’s mission” and declare economic growth a “national mission” in his first major speech in office.

It will also propose changes to the planning system and “announce rapid changes to unlock infrastructure and private investment”.

The Chancellor will say: “We are dealing with the legacy of 14 years of chaos and economic irresponsibility.

“The new Treasury analysis I requested at the weekend has revealed the opportunities lost as a result of this failure.

If the UK economy had grown at the rate of average OECD economies since 2010, it would be more than £140 billion larger.

“Last year alone this could have raised an extra £58 billion in tax money to keep our public services running.

“The new government has the responsibility to repair the foundations.”
