iPhone 16 Pro Series Gets ‘Identical’ Tetraprism Camera, No Updates

Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max debuted with a Tetraprism camera last year. That camera offered 5x optical zoom, although it wasn’t as good as the best periscope-telephoto cameras. It looks like both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will get the same Tetraprism camera, the same one.

iPhone 16 Pro series will not feature improved Tetraprism camera, it will be the same as last year

Well, this will be a first for the smaller “Pro” model, but the bottom line is that Apple won’t be improving it. This information comes from Digitimes and Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst who often brings us Apple-related news.

Many were expecting some kind of improvement in the Tetraprism camera… at least in the Pro Max model. Well, that won’t happen since both smartphones will use the same setup.

If that happens, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will offer 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom. That will be, by the way, a 12-megapixel camera.

Apple is set to bring an upgrade to the main camera, though. Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are said to feature a 48-megapixel camera with the Sony IMX903 sensor, a dual-layer transistor sensor.

Both iPhone 16 “Pro” models will have larger displays

Both of these smartphones will also offer larger displays than their predecessors. Instead of a 6.1-inch panel, the iPhone 16 Pro will offer a 6.3-inch display. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will offer a 6.9-inch panel, instead of a 6.7-inch one.

Both smartphones will also have thinner bezels than their predecessors. Despite this, they will have a larger surface area compared to their predecessors. This is not surprising, considering the displays will be 0.2 inches larger.

All four iPhone 16 series models will almost certainly launch in September. That’s when Apple typically launches its new iPhones. The vanilla models won’t offer larger displays, by the way.
