The housing crisis will not be solved for those who suffer the most by the mishmash of half-hearted, small-scale policy responses that governments currently favour. They lack the courage to commit to direct government intervention on a sufficient scale in the failing housing market in the form of publicly funded, developed and owned housing for the most vulnerable.
