CM Naidu to release white paper on power sector today

Vijayawada:Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is set to release a white paper on AP’s power sector at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

The CM held a review with senior officials in the power sector on Monday. Though the officials gave a presentation on the power sector, the CM was not happy with it, sources said.

Sources said the officials have been asked to prepare a detailed report on the performance of the power sector in AP during 2014-19 and compare it with the performance of the sector during 2019-2024.

CM called for verification of the draft document on the energy sector before its publication.

It was learned that the Prime Minister wanted to compare the details of power purchase agreements, nine-hour supply of good quality energy, especially to the agricultural sector, budget allocation for the energy sector, expenditure incurred by the state on strengthening the energy infrastructure and many other details in the context of both terms of the government.

Naidu will release the white paper after due scrutiny of the draft document on the power sector, latest tomorrow.

The Prime Minister will attend a meeting of the state-level bankers’ committee at the AP Secretariat around noon. Bankers may be asked to be generous while providing loans to beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, with the assurance that beneficiaries are encouraged to repay their previous loans.

Naidu also asked about the relief provided to the victims of the cement factory accident at Jaggaiahpeta in NTR district on Sunday. He advised the officials to pay ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the deceased, Rs 25 lakh to the seriously injured and Rs 5 lakh to the injured. One person died and 15 were injured in the accident.
