7 Amazing New Coffee Gadgets at World Of Coffee Copenhagen

World of Coffee 2024 just wrapped up in Copenhagen, announcing four new champions at the World Coffee Championships and bringing with it a slew of exhibits and new coffee gear. This will be the last show hosted by the Specialty Coffee Association for 2024, and companies from all over the world took advantage of the opportunity to debut and showcase their products. With so much eye-catching gear on display at the show, we at Sprudge have narrowed it down to a concise list of items that deserve a little extra attention.

Slayer Steam Single

Slayer has attracted considerable attention at the World of Coffee Copenhagen with the launch of its first single-group machine in the Steam series. This model marks the brand’s entry into the home market, featuring an integrated 2.5L water tank for easy plug-and-play operation. Sleek and sleek, like other machines in the Slayer range, the machine is capable of pre-brewing at low pressure to gently saturate the coffee puck before increasing the pressure to full, as with the Steam LP. Users can choose to brew in either manual or volume mode after setting the dose.

New kit is always hotly anticipated at coffee shows, and a new coffee machine from a brand like Slayer can’t help but pique interest. Expect the single-group machine to be introduced for home and prosumer use in the coming year.

Marco MilkPal

This was a pleasant surprise from Marco, who is based in Ireland and has been a long-time wow factor at European trade shows. The Marco MilkPal is capable of handling everything you could possibly imagine for a milk dispenser. The 30kg machine can store up to 25 milk recipes from hot to cold, with a temperature range of 0º to 80ºC. The user interface is simple, allowing users to set the volume of milk dispensed and the froth ratio, catering for virtually every café need. Unlike traditional steam frothing, the MilkPal uses an air pump to inject air, ensuring the milk is not diluted. It can deliver up to 24 litres of milk per hour. In addition, if the machine is idle for more than six minutes, it initiates a self-cleaning cycle, maintaining high hygiene standards.

Marco products also have a certain aesthetic smoothness and are immediately memorable. MilkPal is set to be available this fall.

Studio xBloom

The Californian company has just released a new machine alongside its Original model, offering a lower price point and more versatility. With the xBloom Studio, users can now use their preferred brewing device instead of sticking with the included Omni Dripper. Dubbed the “ultimate specialty coffee machine” by the brand, it handles every step of the way, from grinding — thanks to its 48mm conical burr and adjustable RPMs — to brewing. Users can set a recipe via the app and let the xBloom deliver it, or go completely manual, like pouring from a kettle. It also has a built-in scale and the ability to plug into a mains, which is a marked improvement over the Original model.

According to the official xBloom website, the price of xBloom Studio is $499 and it will ship within 2 business days.

Manual Roaster ROASTINO

Kavekalmar has just won the SCA 2024 Best New Product Award in the Open Class category with its ROASTINO manual roaster. Designed by Hungarian company Kavekalmar, the ROASTINO is a tribute to the art of manual roasting with a touch of craftsmanship. Inspired by a vintage drum roaster, it features a modest sphere that acts as a roasting chamber, capable of handling between 30 and 100 grams of green coffee. Operation is simple: place the roaster over a heat source, whether an open flame or an induction heater, heat the roaster, and then start roasting.

Perhaps most intriguing is the fact that the ROASTINO is fully manual, requiring you to turn it by hand. In an age where everything coffee-related is digital, from the Cropster to drip coffee makers like the xBloom Studio, this hands-on approach offers a form of meditation and makes you feel more connected to your coffee. It’s a breath of fresh air.

Loveramics and Stronghold Rope Mugs

We at Sprudge love our hanger cups. Look how cute they are! Extremely practical and undeniably stylish at trade shows, hanger cups offer the best of both worlds: a balanced approach to cupping or tasting at trade shows compared to paper cups, and they look good on you, too. If your hanger cup features the roaster’s logo (as pictured), it’s a badge of honor that marks you as a serious and dedicated coffee enthusiast.

After a successful showing at the SCA Expo in Chicago, these lanyard cups have become a must-have accessory in Copenhagen.

Loveramics x Boram Um Embossed Tasting Cups

Loveramics also offers embossed tasting cups, designed in collaboration with Boram Um, the 2023 World Barista Champion. Available in four vibrant colours, from purple to yellow, and three sizes, from 80ml to 200ml, the Boram Um Tasting Cups feature a wider opening, which is believed to enhance the sweetness of the coffee compared to the original tasting cups. These cups retain the embossing, which enhances the tactile experience of drinking coffee.

You can imagine them looking very chic behind the bar in a beautiful café.

The latest addition to the Sibarist filter paper range, the Dual Chamber, is unique in itself. It is the world’s first dual chamber filter, meaning that when placed in the conical dripper, the brewing chamber is divided into two independent parts. You can fill each chamber with a different coffee and brew them separately or simultaneously. This innovative product opens up countless possibilities for filtered brewing, offering countless variables to explore.
