Healthcare regulation and administration week of July 8, 2024

CONGRESS IS BACK

Congress is returning from its July 4 recess. There are several hearings related to health care this week, including a Senate Aging Committee hearing on health care costs, a Senate HELP Committee hearing on medical debt and a House Ways and Means hearing on medical innovation.

But the focus of Congress this week won’t be on legislation. Instead, all eyes will be on Democrats’ answers to ongoing questions about President Biden’s health that have come about since his debate performance.

We also look forward to the release of proposed regulations on the Physician Fee Schedule, the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System, and Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Patient Engagement, Information Sharing, and Public Health Interoperability. All three of these regulations have passed review by the Office of Management and Budget and, as a result, are likely to be released this week. In addition, Friday saw the release of the Spring 2024 Unified Agenda, which outlines the Administration’s outstanding regulations and target release dates.
