Invest More in Health and Education Sectors – Peter Obi to Nigerian Government and Donor Agencies

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has called on all levels of government and donor agencies to increase investment in the country’s health and education sectors.

The former Anambra State governor on Tuesday posted on his X account and made this known at the Grimard College of Nursing Sciences, Anyigba, Kogi State University.

While encouraging nursing students to focus and engage in their studies, Obi also expressed concern over the training of nurses, adding that investing in their training would help avoid the staff shortage.

“I have not only consistently called on governments at all levels to increase investment in health and education, but also continued to urge donor agencies to do the same.

“Our investment in the future of our children is for the good of society and the development of our nation. I am particularly concerned about the training of nurses because they are at the heart of our primary health care.

“As experts continue to warn of a looming critical shortage of nurses, we must remain proactive in investing in nurse training. This will ensure we have enough for our domestic health sector and export more to the global community.

“Our goal remains to build a New Nigeria that provides Nigerians with access to good healthcare and educational opportunities,” he said.
