SNOC and Emerge begin construction of 60 MWp solar power plant in Sharjah

Emerge, a joint venture between UAE state-owned energy company Masdar and EDF Group, in partnership with Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), has begun construction of a 60 MWp peak solar power plant in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Located within SNOC’s Sajaa Gas Complex, the facility plays a key role in the city’s transition to sustainable energy.

The new facility is expected to generate enough clean energy to offset 66,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. That’s the equivalent of taking 14,600 cars off the road each year.

This action is part of SNOC’s strategy to achieve net zero emissions by 2032.

The solar plant will reduce the company’s dependence on fossil fuels and provide a more economical energy solution.

The project is part of the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategy, which aims to transition to renewable energy and create a more sustainable future for the region.
