Shopsy records 330 million app downloads in 3 years

The platform recorded 70% participation from tier 2 and tier 3 cities like Bhagalpur, Bankura, Kurnool, Nagaon and Dhule

Bangalore: Shopsy, Flipkart’s ultra-low-cost e-commerce platform, has seen over 330 million app downloads in the last three years in India, the company announced on Tuesday.

Since its inception, Shopsy has expanded its reach to over 19,000 pin codes, offering over 16 million products across 1,300 categories, and building a seller community of 1.4 million people (including Flipkart).

“We celebrate this milestone with our customers, merchants and partners whose support has solidified our position as the favorite high-value e-commerce platform,” said Prathyusha Agarwal, Chief Business Officer at Shopsy.

“With the Indian e-commerce sector set to touch USD 300 billion by 2030, we will continue to strive to enhance our offerings, technological capabilities and deliver an unmatched shopping experience to the value-conscious customers of Bharat,” he added.

Nearly 70% of Shopsy’s customers come from tier-II and tier-III cities like Bhagalpur, Bankura, Kurnool, Nagaon, and Dhule, while 90% of new customers are millennials and Gen Z. The platform has tapped into the hyper-value range as over 70% of shoppers purchase products below Rs 200.

“As a company, we didn’t have much of an online focus. Our womenswear business was based on offline markets. But ever since we started working on Shopsy Marketplace, we’ve seen a huge online response in just six months,” says Sachin Chakravarty, director at Shrashti Textiles, a retailer on Shopsy,

The market will also be hosting its third anniversary sale, the Shopsy Birthday Sale, this coming week.

Launched in July 2021, Shopsy operates on a commission-free marketplace model and serves Tier 2 and 3 cities.

Founded in 2007, Flipkart Group includes Flipkart, Myntra, Flipkart Wholesale, Flipkart Health+, and Cleartrip. Flipkart has over 500 million registered users. It offers 150 million products in over 80 categories. The retailer has over 1.4 million sellers on its platform, including Shopsy sellers.
