Accenture acquires Bengaluru-based semiconductor design firm Excelmax – Industry News

IT giant Accenture has acquired Excelmax Technologies, a Bengaluru-based semiconductor design services provider, employing about 450 professionals in areas such as emulation, automotive, physical design, analog, logic design and verification. The company did not disclose the cost of the acquisition.

Excelmax delivers custom silicon solutions for consumer devices, data centers, and AI (AI) and computing platforms that enable AI solutions at the edge for customers in the automotive, telecommunications and high-tech industries.

“With the rapid development of new technologies such as generative AI and the rise of connected products, there is a need for more complex, specialized systems with improved performance and efficiency,” said Karthik Narain, Group General Manager, Technology at Accenture. “Our acquisition of Excelmax enhances our expertise in every aspect of integrated circuit design and development—from concept to production—so we can help our clients drive innovation and growth,” he added.

The acquisition took place at a time when the semiconductor market is seeing an increase in demand for integrated circuit design services, driven by the proliferation of data centers and the increasing use of artificial intelligence and edge computing.

Mahesh Zurale, Global Leader, Global Network of Advanced Technology Centers at Accenture, said: “As global demand for silicon solutions grows, India is becoming a hotbed for IC design. Developing our skilled talent in-country in physical and RTL design, verification, emulation, and firmware engineering will help us expand our IC design capabilities and accelerate innovation for our customers around the world.”

The acquisition follows the 2022 acquisition of XtremeEDA, an Ottawa, Canada-based integrated circuit design services company.
