Nutreco acquires AECI Animal Health South Africa

Nutreco announced its intention to acquire Chemfit Fine Chemicals Proprietary Ltd., operating under the name AECI Animal Health in South Africa.

“The African continent’s role is crucial in ensuring food for future generations, which is why further investment in South Africa is a strategic choice for us,” Nutreco said in a press release. “We see the huge potential in the region, having already taken significant steps in 2016 with the acquisition of Advit. By expanding our presence, we are not only fulfilling our commitment to feeding the future, but also increasing our market reach, thereby supporting South African farmers in building a sustainable agricultural future.”

AECI AH was established in 2002 and has nationwide distribution from its manufacturing facility in Burgersdorp in the Eastern Cape. AECI AH’s strengths complement those of Trouw Nutrition South Africa and its manufacturing location provides Trouw Nutrition South Africa with good access to key regions.

With this planned acquisition, we will combine two outstanding organizations with complementary knowledge and experience, which will benefit our customers.

The acquisition, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2024, will be subject to a number of conditions.
